Operations & Maintenance

Operations & Maintenance is a vital part of Sheguiandah First Nation.  This department is deemed an essential service.  This service operates year-round and is on call at numerous times of the year. The department is responsible for the maintenance of community buildings, roads, garbage pickup, community beautification and other related task that fall under maintenance infrastructure.  This department works closely with other departments such as Lands, Housing and Education where combined resources are required for specialized projects.

Services include:

  • Garbage and recyclables collection.
  • Snow plowing (winter).
  • Busing operations.
  • Lawn, road and brushing maintenance (Summer).
  • Water deliveries.
  • Heavy equipment projects.
  • Maintain Fleet vehicles

The O&M Manager responsible for carrying out other special requests for the  community.  The manager reports to the funders (ISC) and progress reports, make recommendations and obtain quotes for projects and any repairs as needed. A big part of the duties is to process payables and supervise employees under the program. Co-ordinate and supervise construction projects.

The manager communicates with staff on daily basis regarding requests as well as other professionals with the Ministry of the Environment, Health Canada and other agencies that are a part of the operations and maintenance of Sheguiandah First Nation.  Receive direction from Band Manager on other duties that are deemed important from Chief and Council.
