Medical clinic and administration office for health and wellness.
The Sheguiandah First Nation Health Centre is both a medical clinic and an administration office for health and wellness. The Health Manager oversees all programming and manages departmental staff. The Health Centre consists of programs ranging from Community Wellness, Family Well-Being, and Traditional Life-Styles. Medical Transportation and health clinics are an important part of the Health Centre.
Programs offered
Below are the programs currently offered at the Health Clinic as part of the Sheguiandah First Nation Health Initiative.
Community Health Representative / Health Manager
Programs and operations managed by the Health Manager. Duties include community advocacy for visiting professionals, advertising and community awareness of available supports, managing Health Centre staff, facilitating programming that enhances the lives of our community members, and diabetes education and support programs.
Family Well-Being
Fosters support for families through well-being and mental health. Duties include facilitating programming that supports families on and off reserve, advocating the importance of extended family and community, and facilitating programming that enhances the mental health of family members.
Community Wellness Promoter
Promotes healing and wellness to SFN members. Advocates and promotes food security for our community members, provides referrals for food security and mental health support, and facilitates programming that enhances the lives of our community members.
Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator
Promotes healthy alternatives to the members of SFN. Facilitates programming that enhances the lives of our community members, advocates for clients in need of support, and provides referrals for treatment.
Right to Play Community Mentor
Aimed at the youth of SFN to foster creative networking. Facilitates meaningful and impactful programming for children and youth on a regular basis, creates a network of support for children and youth through programming, and creates and advocates for opportunities for children and youth that will enhance their lives.
Traditional & Life Skills Coordinator
Focuses on traditions and culture. Facilitates programming that connects community members with culture and traditions and builds life skills. Programming includes (but is not limited to) harvesting, teachings, and land-based activities.
Medical Transportation Clerk
Provides and coordinates transportation to medical appointments. Organizes transportation for clients to attend appointments, provides support to clients when applying for Travel Agreements, and prepares documentation and reports for reimbursements and cheque requisitions for Travel Agreements.
