The Traditional Lands Use Consultation Coordinator is responsible for administering the NRF program for Sheguiandah First Nation. This position reports to the Band Manager. The program information is listed below.

What is the New Relationship Fund?

The New Relationship Fund (NRF) supports First Nations, Métis communities, and Indigenous organizations’ efforts to:

  • Build consultation and engagement capacity and expertise.
  • Create jobs.
  • Develop business partnerships.
  • Improve economic opportunities.

The NRF Lead for Sheguiandah First Nation ensures that the key points of the program are administered under the terms of the NRF agreement.

Support in conducting a Traditional Knowledge & Lands Use Study.

Ministry and government engagement

Meet with Ministry and Government officials to discuss industry opportunities and economic development.

Permits and MNRF

Responding to permits and dealing with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF).

Consultation Policy and Protocol

Creating the SFN Consultation Policy and Protocol.

Impact Benefit Agreement

Creating an Impact Benefit Agreement framework for Sheguiandah First Nation.

Resource revenue sharing

Researching Resource Revenue Sharing in our area and possibilities of partnership.

Mapping project

Finishing the SFN mapping project.

Environmental land studies

Conducting environmental land studies.

Future economic development

Advising on future economic development projects.

Traditional Lands Knowledge Sharing

Teachings on old practices used by the Nation: hunting, trapping, fishing, arts, harvesting medicines, quillwork, basket weaving, cooking, preserving foods.
